Traditionally, the 9-day NAPLAN testing window occurred in May however, starting in 2023 the examination period has been moved to March. This change was discussed years in advance and made in conferences with federal, territory, and state officials. An earlier testing period will enable teachers and staff to assess a student’s level of achievement in multiple areas against the national standard. This then allows teachers to provide necessary support or extension for students, prioritizing their education and identifying future learning areas without delay.
However, due to this change, the testing period may fall during Ramadan or Eid al-Fitr. Schools can contact their local test administration authority to reschedule or alter their NAPLAN test schedule. Parents and guardians should coordinate with their child’s school to make arrangements regarding any schedule changes.
